Venue Comments

See Bertrand (2001) for a more detailed account of film exhibition in Cue. From 1939 the story becomes clearer. This hall was struck by lightning and burnt down on 5 March 1955. Screenings continued in the gardens. A new hall (which was the men's change and shower room transported from the Big Bell mine) opened during the Cue Race Club’s October meeting in 1957, and screenings continued in this hall for some years just as they had before the fire.

In the late fifties, however, the town declined dramatically and screenings ceased, in both hall and gardens.
