The Londesborough was constructed for Robert Atkinson and his sons, who ran the pictures from 1925 till about 1942. Screenings were twice a week. Joe Rourke moved into the Londesborough in 1942 (from Denmark Hall) and bought it in 1950. He continued to screen in the hall until the drive-in opened up in 1966. (Bertrand 2001) References |
