The Albany was a newsreel theatrette screening continuously every hour, opening on October 30, 1936. The theatre was controlled by Woodrow and Sloman. It changed to running features in the early 60s when newsreels were replaced by television.

Theatre later operated as a sex cinema under the title of Pussycat Theatres.
