The town hall theatre, built in 1899 and was soon equiped with a bio box and the necessary equipment for movie screening. (Adams). Both the Paramount and Town Hall theatres combined management and worked together until 1938. In 1954, Mr J Anderson formed partnership with R Kirby and took on the lease of the Town Hall Theatre, which operated in competition with the Midland. The Ararat Town Hall was eventually (1974) turned into a multi-purpose venue with very little of the original facade or interior remaining.
